Meet Flicker, a charming 2-year-old female American Shelter Dog with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines through her fears. Flicker is a darling girl who is so close to her people once she trusts them that she needs a touch of work regarding separation anxiety and fearfulness. These challenges make her unique but also highlight the depth of her emotions and her need for a patient and understanding home. Despite her anxiety, Flicker is incredibly affectionate and loyal. Once she trusts you, she becomes a devoted companion, always eager to be by your side. She has a gentle nature and a playful spirit that emerges when she feels safe and secure. Flicker is still learning to navigate the world with confidence, and she would greatly benefit from crate training when left alone because she tends to chew items for comfort. A crate can provide her with a safe and comforting space where she can retreat and relax when she feels overwhelmed or has to be apart from you, and enrichment toys like treat filled Kongs and puzzles can help her mind and body wind down in a beneficial way. If you're a loving, patient human ready for a loving, mellow dog, she's your gal!

"JOJO" Search and RESCUE?? LOVES his toys and self- entertains!

One of the most curious and self-entertaining dogs in the shelter. In another world, JOJO would excel in search and rescue work, as he is driven to find the answer to a puzzle, and isn't timid about putting his heart and soul into moving objects around to find it!

If there is a toy bucket, he makes sure to check out every toys, and will carry around the bucket afterwards.  In a pool filled with toys, he will put his face underwater to get them all, then drag the baby pool across the yard for the thrill of it.   When playing with other dogs, he puts his heart and soul into it, and will end up  a dust /brown covered white dog at the end of the game.

JOJO really wants someone who appreciates his abilities and will provide him with lots of toys and exploring opportunities to grow his mind.  He's obviously not a dog for everyone, but he is a great dog!

Amazingly, when in his kennel he has been pretty calm = just waiting for his next adventure

A volunteer wrote (on MCAS FB)  "I love this boy! Please go to MCAS to meet Jojo, especially if you don't already have pets at home. He's a wonderful dog and it would be great for him to settle in as the only-pet and give you both time to figure out his socializing preferences. He's an energetic boy who tries to mind his manners, but he can also get excited about all the dogs and activity in the shelter. He was so cute yesterday- trying his best to sit still to let me put his harness on for a walk, even though he wanted to join in the boisterous activity of the dogs around him. I love taking him on walks. He's a strong boy so can pull if he really wants to, but he also really enjoys taking time to sniff along the way. He's a handsome dog who hasn't gotten much attention from potential adopters. Please take some time to meet him at MCAS and see if he's the soul mate for you!"

no cats

Hi, I'm Jojo! I'm a younger pittie boy who is looking for the right fit of humans and home to head out with! I'm a particular guy, meaning I might not get along with all animals or people right off the bat. With training, consistency, and good exercise, I could come around nicely! A slow introduction would be crucial for me in my new home if there are other pets present - in fact, smaller animals like cats are a no go, I am too rough with them. I've been okay around other dogs, though I like to pick my friends carefully and will need help learning that sharing is caring when it comes to food and toys. I also will teach you what pets I do and don't like, so please be gentle and slow with me, okay? Are you a good fit for me? Please come see me at the shelter, I would love it!
